“The institution of science makes skepticism a virtue”, is a powerful quote which summarizes Science in a very modest way. It is not an easy job to turn skepticism into a virtue. Scientists must be able to provide proven facts with case studies and other evidences. A scientist of any age can experiment his / her young belief and turn it in to a virtue. Only a science lab can bring in interest and also facilitate a scientist to pursue his or her goals and spread the message to the society. At Advaith, we are optimistic and confident to create global leaders so that they lead the world in a better way. In order to develop inquisitiveness in our students that becomes a main characteristic of a good leader, we have well equipped Science labs with dedicated labs for Botany, Chemistry, Physics and Zoology to enable our young student-scientists to carry out their experiments with the guidance of our teachers. Most concepts in science are taught with the help of an experiment that allows students to translate their books into real life.

Our labs are equipped with all the apparatus required for all age groups so our students can use then whenever necessary. The labs have continuous water and gas supply for smooth usage of labs. Corrosive chemicals like acids are kept in a separate are out of children’s reach. Reactive chemical like sodium and phosphorous are kept in safe places and they are handled only by teachers. The lab has specimens of body parts of animals, models of human skeleton and models of vital organs to touch, feel and then study.

Advaith School in Hosur has a full-fledged Science laboratories that increases emphasis on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects year-on-year. Enticing students into the world of science are improved science standards, expanded science curriculums, updated school science labs, and upgraded science lab furniture.

Outdoor School Science

Teaching helps students to understand and they apply the concept and help them analyze and evaluate the same which leads to better creation of their own tiny experiments. Our campus is also equipped with a huge garden with variety of flora that attracts a wide variety of fauna. To quote a few examples we have butterflies like common jezebel, blue tiger, blue bottle, common mormon, tailed jay and other south Indian butterflies visiting our garden. We also find a lot of birds like Indian Koel, Rufus tree pie, Golden oriole, Barbets, Parakeets visiting our garden. This is used as our live biology lab to teach the structure and function of plants, life cycle of butterflies, seed dispersal, and seasonal changes and so on. Children enjoy going for a nature walk and explore new things in every visit. This type of learning is permanent, and students will never forget what they studied. Even the best school science labs cannot replace the learning opportunities provided by Mother Nature, hence field trips and outings are integral to our science curriculum. Taking students out of the classroom reminds them that science is everywhere, every day of the year.

Children enjoy the lab activities and perform experiments with interest. During the pandemic, when our students are not been able to use the labs their kitchen and other house old is used as the laboratory. For instance, students use Rangoli powder and lemon to see the evolution of carbon did oxide in real. They also use cut potatoes and brinjal to show oxidation which is real fun. Perhaps, experiencing the science lab in our school becomes a memorable learning for our children.

By virtue of their curiosity, imagination, and penchant for exploration, children are natural scientists. We encourage students to think for themselves and to hypothesize, predict, discuss, and debate the scientific concepts being learned.
